It’s Called Humboldt State University and it’s gorgeous.

Main reason i wan’t to go there? To study Oceanography since NY doesn’t offer that.

So I don’t know who you are, but chocobear reblogged you, and I know the school you’re talking about, so I’m responding. I went to visit HSU in 2009 when I was looking for schools that had a good art program. humboltd was one of the best CSUs for that, and it seemed like it was a really nice school, in a really nice, really small area. Arcata/Eureka is tiny. It’s a small town, and if you’re used to a more developed area you might be a little out of place. It’s also hippie central, so there aren’t any big store chains-and there’s a huge marijuana culture there. Like the school is full of stoners, I’m sure.

But there’s also a huge emphasis on the outdoors there. I think arcata is one of those places that stays around the same temperature all year (it’s foggy and kinda cold), so the clubs and things have a huge out-door element, probably year-round. things like rafting, trips to the beach nearby.

The dorms all look pretty nice, and there was even one single sorority that was rallying outside of the student bookstore while I was there, and the cafe was pretty good, as far as i could tell. But I don’t know much about the community there, just that it’s a really small town, which tends to wear some people down if they’re not used to it. there are other schools that have what you’re looking for if you don’t think that appeals to you.

I’m sure you can get into Humboldt. The school isn’t very impacted, so if you’re passing all your classes in high school, you already have a really good chance! Good luck!
